EKAINBERRI

On September 26, third-grade students had the opportunity to enjoy a unique and exciting experience on a field trip to Ekainberri, a replica of the famous Ekain caves located in the heart of Guipúzcoa. It was a day full of surprises and fun.

From early in the morning, the students were full of energy and enthusiasm, ready to discover one of the most fascinating places in prehistory. The bus began its journey, and during the trip, with the help of the teachers, we recalled some of the things we had studied in class, such as stories about the first humans and how they lived millions of years ago.

When we arrived at Ekainberri, the guides welcomed us and explained that we were about to enter a very special place. The original Ekain cave, famous for its cave paintings, is protected and not accessible to the public, but at Ekainberri the students were able to explore an exact replica of the cave. Inside, they were amazed to see paintings depicting prehistoric animals such as bison, bears, horses, and deer, all painted with astonishing precision. The guide explained how early humans used natural colors.

After visiting the cave, they took part in a wonderful activity on how to make fire! They had the opportunity to learn how to make fire using ancient methods, like those used by prehistoric humans. Under the supervision of the monitors, the students tried to light small fires using sticks.

Afterwards, we took a lovely walk around Zestoa and ended up eating and playing at the fronton and in the park.
Without a doubt, this day at Ekainberri will be one of the most memorable experiences of their school life. We had such a great time!
